Aceki Salsa championships - qualifiers
The qualifiers for the Aceki Salsa World Championships will be held in the beautiful and exotic Cebu in the Philippines on 7th September during the Aceki Cebu Salsa Festival. The winners will get a chance to compete in the Aceki World Salsa Championships that will be held in late 2015.

Competition Rules & guidelines
- This competition is open to all participants.
- Competitors must prepare their own music, choreography and costumes. The choreography can be danced on a selected break (eg On1 or On2) and this break should be consistent throughout your routine. Any styles of salsa can be used in the choreography. Routines must ideally reflect the following: Turn Patterns, Open Shines, Footwork, Dance Technique, Musicality. Tricks, dips, and lifts are also permitted.
- The suggested length of the routine is approximately 2 minutes. Maximum length is 5 mins. (Length of dance over 5 mins may incur penalty from the judges. You may check with the organisers regarding the length of music you will use if unsure of whether or not it may incur penalty).
- Organiser reserves the rights to use any pictures, footages and choreography of the competition for future marketing purposes.
- Competitors need to purchase a Saturday Night Party Pass to enable them to compete. Exceptions are made only for those who have bought the full event pass.
- All competitors are required to have valid tickets to gain access to all Cebu Salsa Festival events (i.e. night parties, workshops, performance and competition events when competitors are not competing).
JUdging guidelines
Judges picked for the Aceki Salsa Championships is at the sole discretion of the Competition Director.
Any interpretation of any aspect of these Rules and Regulations or any decision involving any other aspect of the competition will be rendered by the Competition Director and the Head Judge of the Panel. The Committee will render a judgment in an effort to ensure that the competition proceeds in a manner consistent with the general spirit and goals of the competition. Any couples that do not adhere to the terms and procedures of these “Rules and Regulations” will result in disqualification from the competition and will automatically forfeit any right to any prizes or awards presented by the competition. In the event of any dispute, the final decision will be made by the Competition Director and the Head Judge of the Panel.

Costume, hair, make-up, presentation, exposure, projection, stage presence and attitude. How professional did the couple appear? Was the couple able to interact with the audience and to get a positive reaction?
Partnering / Connection / Interaction
Lead and follow, unity between partners, couple interaction. Did the couple show true lead and follow technique or was each dancer just executing steps on their own? Were the couple able to show true connection and interaction with each other? Was the couple in sync for their shines?
Choreography / Musicality / Originality
Originality and creativity, use of new and distinct steps or moves, level of difficulty, musicality, complexity and good usage of space. Was this a Salsa choreography? How difficult and original was the choreography? How well was the couple able to interpret the music (mood, accents, breaks, etc.)? Did the routine flow easily from one movement to the next?
Technique / Execution
Balance, grace, lines and the quality of the movements of the choreography. How good was the technique and movements? For example, was there good dance technique, balance in spins, good basic step technique? How well was the routine executed? Was the routine performed flawlessly?
Timing / Rhythm
Precision, time and perseverance used to execute the dance. Dancer must start and continue their dance on the count that they start on (for example whether on 1 or on 2). Did the couple maintain proper timing and rhythm? Was the couple able to show dynamic changes in their movements while staying in the correct timing?
Star Quality
Star quality and originality!
